ART TORONTO: CHARLIE OSCAR PATTERSON SOLO

24 - 27 October 2024

In Charlie's most recent works colour has become the new driving force. The smaller scale pieces feel more like objects that you can hold with harmonious colour palettes inspired by the modernist colour field painters of the 40's and 50's. In Patterson's painting, music plays a central role, embodying both rhythm and sound through the concept of volume. Volume serves a dual purpose, influencing the visual elements while also representing intangible qualities, such as sound. Patterson describes this new body of work as feeling very tranquil, the storm has passed and we now have the balance of the black versus the white paintings and the gradient of pastel hues, there to calm and relax you.
